Project 3- The Cyclical Nature of Things- Final

Image
"To Build a World" That is the name of this piece because I wanted to show my favorite parts of reading, which is building that world in my head. Maps are one of my favorite parts of my books, they always have been. Maps are the first step into a new world. Throughout the book, when the reference a place or go somewhere new, you have to consistently go back to the map to see where they're talking about. I always make tea when I read, not really sure why if I'm being honest, but I just do. The Agatha Christie Mystery Collection is a cycle in itself, because these are my Grandma's favorite books. She told me and my sister that we would be getting all of them when she dies, and I plan on passing my books down to my kids when I die.

Project 3- The Cyclical Nature of Things- Iterations

I've been trying to make different iterations, but there's really only one idea that I've liked so far, so that's the only one I've made that I liked. I will continue to work on it though to create more iterations.

Project 3- The Cyclical Nature of Things- Update

In classic Kara fashion, I have decided to do something completely different than I initially planned... BOOKS! I really don't know why I didn't think of this idea sooner, because books are a very cyclical thing in my life. There is never a moment when I don't have a book to read, I'm never reading at least one book, in fact currently I'm reading three. I finally feel like I have a story to tell with this project which is very exciting for me, considering last time we talked I hated everything I had so far. I have an image in my head already of what I want this to look like, so I have a starting place which is already more than I had before. Very excited, pictures will be coming soon :)

So there are a few words I'm thinking of, either "change" or "time". Based on the images I took, I like the idea of how things change over time. I have a picture of my mom when she was little with one of her pet chickens, and then another recent picture of her with one of the chickens we have now, unfortunately the picture of her as a kid isn't very clear. I also have lots of pictures of tree rings, which I think are a good representation of age and time. Obviously there's the life long question of what came first, the chicken or the egg? So I have some pictures of our chickens and the eggs they lay. I tried to focus a lot on textures, so I'm hoping I can find a way to use them. I've just been struggling with how to combine these pictures to tell a story that I like.

So I changed my idea a little bit to focus more on the aesthetic of Darth Vader, that way it wouldn't be as direct. So I chose different images and icons that I felt represented Vader well. The color scheme is pretty consistent, but that's just because I liked these colors and didn't really want to change them.
